Focus groups

Back to fieldwork listing

Focus group research involves organised discussion with a selected group of individuals recruited to meet specific criteria.

Focus groups allow debate amongst the participants, enabling the capture of several perspectives at once. This means that detailed and in-depth information about participants' views and experiences can be gathered quickly. For this reason, focus groups are often conducted in addition to quantitative research to further explore and understand perspectives and issues.

Excellent group leadership and interpersonal skills are required to moderate a group successfully. At explore research, we have experienced moderators who have conducted focus groups on a wide range of subject matters with a broad range of respondents.

Explore research also has access to a team of professional group recruiters who have vast experience of recruiting complicated and often hard-to-reach respondents.
